When Continuation Meets Contrast
A stick strikes the snare on the drum kit and lands cleanly in the center. The tone is full. The head vibrates evenly. The next stroke lands slightly toward the rim. The sound thins. The difference is audible.
The hands continue moving. The hi-hat closes with measured separation. The bass drum presses downward beneath the foot. Two strikes occur in close succession, yet they do not produce the same weight.
The difference does not stop the pattern. It becomes visible inside it.
